When considering one of the many cell phones available to you and all the options and plans that are on offer, it may well be that you can do quite well with one of the cheap cell phones that are on offer. There are many cell phone plans that offer more options that you’ll probably ever need. So if you’re on a tight budget, we take a look at what you can do to find a cheap cell phone plan that will more than meet your needs.

One of the first things you need to take a look at is how often and how far you travel. If you happen to spend the majority of your time close to home, then you aren’t going to have to worry about leaving your local calling area that is established by many cell phone providers. If this is the case for you, a cheaper cell phone plan will do nicely as you won’t need a free roaming plan. You would just need to be aware that when you do travel outside of your local calling area, making calls on your cell phone are going to be expensive!

With some of the cheap cell phone services that are available, you can pay up front for a block of minutes. This could seem a good idea at first. Unfortunately though, you’ll find that both incoming and outgoing calls will eat into the minutes that you have paid for. When you compare this to some of the cell phone plans that are marginally more expensive, you’ll find that you can get your inbound minutes (calls) for free. In this case, the cheaper cell phone plan isn’t actually going to be the cheapest deal in the long run!

Another thing to consider is customer service. Usually, this will be carried out over the internet or even through email. However, if you ever were to call your customer service agent on your cell phone, then you need to bear in mind that all the time that you are kept waiting on the phone will eat into your bank of minutes, just like any other call. Before long, you may be thinking your cheap cell phone plan isn’t such a good deal after all!
